Upton Grey Floral, a fairly new floral design studio based in Pasadena, California wowed us with their latest shoot — A Kate Spade Inspired Wedding. Victoria Ketcham, the owner and lead designer, was kind enough to share her experience at our market and collaborating with local vendors and artists from Orange County.

"Fleurametz provided the "Sarah Bernhardt" peonies and "Blueberry" roses which both lived an extraordinarily long time beyond the shoot! The spectacular "Mister Ed" & "Bowl of Cream" peonies and white spray roses came from Holland Flower Market and were easily the stars of the show; Mayesh Wholesale provided the gorgeous "Yves Piaget" garden roses, the Mini Green Hydrangea, pink Wax Flower, green Hypericum Berry, and Chocolate Scented Geranium. International Orchids & Imports provided the stunning Cymbidiums. The blue accents were Sea Holly from Mayesh, Delphinium from Holland Flower Market, and flowering cut Mint from one of my favorites — ZCallas. I sourced most of my foliage from Dan Stamis, who as far as I'm concerned, are some of the nicest guys in the whole flower district! "

Ketcham frequently works with many vendors from our market and this project was no exception.  She ordered the essential ingredients in advance, but also took the time to walk around and be inspired by the daily offerings at the market.

"This photo shoot was produced during peak peony season, so we went full-throttle with peonies and garden roses. I drew inspiration from Kate Spade's "Grant Street Floral" print which features all shades of pink through fuchsia. I wanted the floral design to be abundant, luxurious, playful, and over the top." — Ketcham

The team actually designed two separate shoots for the day — completely different color palettes and styles. Of the two looks they designed, Ashley Bemis from A Sweetpea Event & Celebration, conceptualized the "Kate Spade Inspired Wedding", which is what you see here and featured on The Daily Wedding blog!

Thank you (Upton Grey Floral) for your continued visits to The Southern California Flower Market. Wishing you all the success in the future!
